The Friends group of the church was originally started in the early 1960s. Falling by the wayside during the 70s.
Reverend Peter Lewis resurrected the Friends as they are today during the mid 1980’s. Friends members were sought originally as a donation based group, including residents of Amesbury Abbey. However it was soon realised that a broader based group was necessary to ensure funding would be ongoing for any help needed to repair and replace problems that arose to the fabric of our ancient church. The present Friends committee arrange several fund raising events every year, raising as much money as possible to increase revenue for use as required. Recent events have seen a sizeable donation given to the roof repairs. It is the hope of all members of the Friends that new members will be found, and a younger, enthusiastic and willing group of volunteers will be willing to take up the reins and continue with the fundraising efforts to enable donations to be made towards any further required works, to keep our beautiful ancient parish church in full working order.
